Students have the possibility to enrich their knowledge of oral and written Italian, as well as to work on vocabulary, to do listening exercises and literature and they are encouraged to use the Italian language in every situation.

In the afternoon students can specifically work on language through translation from English to Italian. The texts used are specifically selected to enable students to improve distinctive traits related to the structural and expressive differences between Italian and English.

The afternoon course can be individual (4 lessons of 55 minutes per week) or in a group of a minimum of 2 people (4 lessons of 55 minutes per week).

The teachers who teach the translation courses have a specialised diploma in translation.

At the end of the lessons students can decide to participate in the integrated activity program which encourages students to get to know other aspects of Italian culture and tradition as well as visit the most fascinating museums and monuments in Florence with a Florentine guide.

Lesson times:
9:00 – 10:30 - group grammar lesson, every day from Monday to Friday

Pre-academic courses

Course structure
Italian Universities attract students from all around the world every year. The faculty of medicine, medical professions, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, architecture, design, engineering, art history and history give great opportunities to build a future. For many years the ABC school has successfully organised Italian courses in preparation for the entrance test of whichever Italian faculty the student would like to study at.
The course includes 16 weeks of Standard group lessons and 50 individual lessons focused on the specific University.

About the course
For students with little or no knowledge of Italian, we would advise you to attend courses for at least 16 weeks to be able to reach a level of Italian which will help you to easily follow University lectures.
In classes composed of a maximum of 8 people, we will study grammar structures and rules which will then be practically applied during conversation lessons. Thanks to the direct teaching method used by the school, meaning that students start to speak Italian from the very first day, students are able to appreciate their early progress straight away.

Lesson times
Grammar: from 9:00 to 10:30
Conversation: from 10:45 to 12:15

Individual lessons: the time of individual lessons in the afternoon will be agreed with the student according to their needs.

Group lessons last 45 minutes and take place Monday to Friday.
Individual lessons last 55 minutes.
At the weekend the school is closed, but on Saturday we organise excursions either in Florence or outside of the city.
In the afternoon all students have the possibility to participate in our integrative activity program where teachers take students to get to know various aspects of italian culture: from literature to history, music to cinema, traditions to curiosity and visiting florence and its monuments.

Changes to the timetable are possible during certain times of the year and/or for other reasons from the school but will be promptly communicated with the students.

Course duration
The pre-academic course lasts at least 16 weeks and for a maximum of a year.
