(20 lessons per week)
The Italian language and theatre course was created by the desire to offer ABC school students another way to study through the memory of movement by involving the whole body as it matches the movement of language. Gestures and facial expressions are the first form of language and students are encouraged to express themselves and to communicate by giving voice to their emotions.
About the course:
In the first half of the morning students follow group grammar lessons where they learn the structures needed for communication.
The conversation lessons take place in an alternative way to normal classes: they are taken by teachers who have personal acting experience and who use theatre techniques in their lessons to teach language.
The Italian language and theatre course does not include creating scripts or having to perform a show. There is no audience and there is no obligation for you to remember your lines.
The lesson starts with an initial stimulus which could be an image, a situation or a text which then provokes drama, improvisation, listening and creating writing.
This method promotes an increase in self-confidence and communication and encourages reflection and the adoption of different points of views.
They say that when the body learns, the mind never forgets. It is by involving the whole person that communication and an expansion of their vocabulary is stimulated.
Communication lessons can take place in groups or individually.
Grammar: from 9:00 to 10:30
Learning with theatre: from 10:45 to 12:15
Every lesson lasts 45 minutes.
In the afternoon students have the possibility to participate in an integrative activity program to get to know the Italian culture and traditions or to explore Florence and its historical and artistic treasures, guided by an ABC school teacher.
All of the activities take place in Italian and it is a great opportunity to continue to speak and listen to the language after the lessons are finished.
This course lasts for at least one week.
